Duo Los Americanos

Pablo Cárcamo and David Kaplan are the duo Los Americanos.

Cárcamo was born on Chiloé, an island in southern Chile.
Already in his early childhood he showed to be a musical prodigy: At the age of five, he played the accordion publicly, later also the guitar, pan flutes and contrabass. By know he mastered all typical, South American instruments. He is an expert on South American music and made concert tours in Cinga, Europe and South America. His specialties include Samba, Cumbia and Merenge - primarily improvisations.

David Kaplan was born in California, in San Francisco, and grew up there as well. He studied theory and composition at the San Francisco State University, as well as jazz piano at the Berklee School of music in Boston. In the course of his career he went through various musical styles from country and Western to opera. The American, who is married to a his wife from Lübek, Germany, runs an restaurant with his wife in List, Sylt, called “Alter Gasthof” where he often plays his jazz music..
